Scientific Solutions is currently in development and testing of a new application for our active SONAR systems: the protective monitoring of marine life near oceanic installations. This application has the potential to revolutionize the way we operate undersea equipment in both near-shore and off-shore settings and enable the responsible and safe utilization of the natural resources.

SDSN - the Swimmer Detection SONAR Network - is a system comprised of multi-channel nodes which are arranged in multi-static arrays and track the presence of undersea intruders approaching sensitive areas and in-water assets.

The High Frequency Marine Mammal Monitoring system is utilized in conjunction with Navy Low Frequency Active towed SONAR arrays to alert operators to the presence of marine mammals - a situation which requires the cessation of all SONAR operations to avoid serious physical harm to the animals.

Integrated Marine Mammal Protection System Beginning in 2003, Scientific Solutions, LLC developed the first integrated marine mammal protection system. In 2004, SSI integrated modalities allowing both audio and visual tracking systems which have been used to track the migration of the south bound gray whale population to share data. The sea trials that year proved the project was successful and the technology has been sought after as part of both private and public sector efforts to monitor marine mammal movements. SSI partnered with the Office of Naval Research on this project in conjunction with Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), Naval Facilitives Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Universities and government research labs.
